For both Carol DeFiore and William Jorgensen owning and operating their own business has been a lifelong dream, since their early years and completion of mortuary school. "I knew I wanted to be a funeral director when I was in the sixth grade." says Bill, who grew up in Humboldt, Iowa, a small rural community where, "You definitely answer to the families who call on you for service."
Carol, having grown up in Chicago brings local ties to the many families who have relocated to various areas of Chicagoland while maintaining their roots. Both believe, "It is one thing to work for others, yet having our experience, we felt it necessary to pursue the dream of ownership. We want to offer the families in the Huntley area another option in funeral and cremation services. Our dedication to caring means we can provide meaningful services, no matter how great the task, for those having experienced the loss of that special someone.
In May of 2010, construction was completed and an open house was held to showcase the new 9,500 square foot facility, complete with two chapels, reception area, childrens room and crematory. This facility enables DeFiore-Jorgensen to serve area families in all of their funeral and cremation needs and provides families with a new option when selecting a funeral provider. DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service had previously operated a storefront location in Huntley which opened in 2008, beginning a new chapter in Carol & Bill's funeral service careers.
"We felt having a presence in Huntley and being a part of the community, while getting to know area residents and serving families both when they experienced a death and for their preplanning needs was the right thing to do when we were planning and building the new funeral home." We want families to know that we are here and able to serve their needs today, tomorrow and into the future.
