Obituary

Albert M. Jones, 70, of Sun City, Huntley, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Autumn Leaves of St. Charles after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

He was born December 28, 1947 in Chicago, the son of David Robert and Virginia (Wieringa) Jones. He grew up in Chicago, graduated from Fenger High School and obtained his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Illinois Institute of Technology. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Feldman in 1972 and the couple made their home in West Chicago where they raised their family. Albert worked as a computer software designer for many years. Following the death of his first wife, he was united in marriage to Thelma Cattron Riederer on October 8, 2005. The couple lived in Mt. Pleasant, Wisconsin and in 2014 moved to Sun City, Huntley. Albert loved sports and had been a referee for youth and high school soccer games, he enjoyed playing softball, pickleball and volleyball. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed mathematics and trivia. Al was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Algonquin.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma C. Jones, his children, Michael (Theresa) Jones, Keith (Carrie) Jones, Joseph (Amber) Jones, Kaelin (Chris) Weldon, Robert (Jamie) Jones, his step-children, Sarah (James) Wilson and John (Hannah) Riederer, his grandchildren, Travis, Lily, Sabrina, Douglas, Brandon, Leo, Thomas, Jackie, Jared, Charlotte, Taylor, Harper, Judah and Levi, his sisters, Margaret (Ron) Lammers and Ellen Shelton, his brothers, Mark (Donna) Jones and Richard (Laura) Jones and his sister-in-law, Joyce Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Charlotte, his brother, David and his brother-in-law, Hank Shelton.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. with a 3:00 p.m. Memorial Service on Saturday, March 24th at the Christ United Methodist Church, 9009 W. Algonquin Road, Algonquin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease.
