Harold J. Riley, Jr. “Skip”, 78, of Huntley, died peacefully on April 7, 2018, at Journeycare Hospice in Barrington.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 pm at DeFiore Jorgensen Funeral Home-10763 Dundee Road, Huntley and also on Friday at 9:00 am prior to the Funeral Mass being celebrated at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church-10307 Dundee Road, Huntley, IL. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joni Riley, his daughters, Lynnette (Mark Hanusin) Lange and Lori (Daniel) Hornickel, and by his grandchildren, Jake, Nathan, Emma, and Zackary. He was Godfather to Mark Riley, Jason Hunt and Angela Marotta and loving Uncle to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, John ( Marilyn) and nephew, Scott.
Skip was born March 14, 1940, the son of Harold and Helen Riley. On August 6, 1966, he married Joni Zajac. He worked for People's Gas Company until his retirement. In the 60's, he was one of the founders of the Four Points CB Radio Club and REACT. Both clubs, in addition to being social, devoted their time to local charities. He was a Charter Member of the Mary's Millennium Knights of Columbus Council #12801 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Streamwood, Il, where he served as an usher for many years. He became a 4th Degree Knight of Assembly 2330. Skip was a model train enthusiast. He was on the Board of Directors of the Valley Model Railroaders in South Elgin and a former member of the Illinois Railway Museum and the Kishwaukee Valley & Eakin Creek Model Railroad Club of Sun City.
