Charlie J. Geheren, of Huntley, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 12, 2018 at his home in Huntley on his 13th Birthday with his family at his side.
He was born April 12, 2005 in Chicago and adopted five months later by William and Mia (Cacciabondo) Geheren. It was then that he came to know love and support. Charlie was a guiding force. He was a miracle to be born. He showed people what happiness looks like. He showed how to fight. He showed resilience. He never judged. He was pure human as anyone you could meet. It’s so interesting how a little boy who can’t talk, has 95% brain damage and can’t communicate very much, can be so influential to peoples lives. We will forever be changed because a little boy named Charles Geheren was in our lives.
He is survived by his parents, William and Mia Geheren, his brothers, Michael Geheren of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Thomas and Daniel Geheren of Huntley and Isaiah Guilford of Naperville, his grandparents, Thomas and Barbara Geheren of St. Paul, Minnesota and Jack and Sharon Cacciabondo of Barrington, his God parents, Peter and Susan Swanson of Naperville and several aunts and uncles and many cousins.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with Prayers of Celebration at 5:30 p.m on Saturday, April 14th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 15th at Huntley Cemetery.
