Kathleen T. Spahn, 67 of Hampshire passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, June 6, 2018 at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
She was born August 12, 1950 in Chicago, the daughter of Robert and Beverly (Mitchell) McCarthy. She grew up in the Austin neighborhood and graduated Jones Commercial High School. She was united in marriage to John M. Spahn on March 15, 1969. The couple made their home in Chicago and then Carpentersville and Algonquin. In 1987, they moved to Hampshire. Kathleen enjoyed bingo, gardening, reading, traveling, animals and especially time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, John of Hampshire, her children, Brian Spahn and his fiancé, Dawn Sykes of Chicago, Allison (Adam) Streeter of Grand Prairie, Texas, Caroline Merritt and her fiancé, Chad Rico of Pingree Grove, her grandchildren, Seth Merritt, Christian Merritt, Evelyn and Ian Tegtman and Graham Streeter, her brothers, Patrick McCarthy of Northlake, Illinois and Joseph (Patricia) McCarthy of Bartlett.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Time of Sharing on Friday, June 8th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
