Obituary

Earl E. Pope, 92 of Sun City, Huntley, passed away at his home on Sunday morning, June 4, 2017.

He was born November 27, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Andrew and Fernie (Hempel) Pope. He graduated from Waller High School in Chicago and served in the Army Air Corps being stationed in the South Pacific during World War II. Following the war, he attended Wright Junior College. He was united in marriage to Geraldine M. Mack on March 25, 1950. The couple made their home in Bellwood and then Elmhurst where they raised their family and stayed for 45 years. Earl worked at W.W. Grainger Co for almost 40 years, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed brass band music, traveling, especially trips to England, and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks fan.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Geraldine “Gerry” of Huntley, his sons, Gary (Linda) Pope of Hoffman Estates and Gregg (Elizabeth) Pope of Hawthorn Woods, his grandchildren, Brian, Jeffrey (Catherine), Lauren, Brett & Rachel, several nieces and nephews, including, Denise Youngberg – Wrath.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 8th and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 9th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
