Obituary

Henry “Hank” D Oster
Hank Oster, 90, of Huntley IL.
Born February, 12, 1927 BC (as he told anyone who would ask him), died peacefully on June 29, 2017 at
Journey Care in Woodstock, IL after a 5 yr. battle with kidney disease.

Hank is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of 17 yrs.; his daughters, Kathleen Oster, Janice Oster, Debra (Allan) Rosenberg. His sisters, Rose (Paul) Morck, Marion Nelson, and Betty Lou (Jim) Hickey. And many nieces and nephews.
Stepson, Tom (Lilia) Smith; step-daughters, Cookie (John) Bzdusek, and Patricia (Allan) Mueller.
Also 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grand-children.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John S. and Helen Oster;
brother, John; his late wife, Shirley, of 51 years; and son, Michael.

Hank was full of life and put a smile on everyone's face. His love of cooking carried over from his time as a cook in the army. He was a "die-hard" Chicago sports fan of baseball, basketball, football and hockey. He was also a great golfer playing many, many years at Palatine Hills Golf Course. He then happily retired to Pinehurst, NC where he lived for 15 years before settling down in Huntley. Not only did Hank love spending time with his family but also his extended family as well, up in St. Germain, WI at the family lake house. He enjoyed his TV watching of old westerns and Wheel of Fortune. His career in construction showed in every aspect of the profession from early cabinetry in his father’s shop & his brother’s business to supervising larger projects with Pepper Construction.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Hank's life will be on Wednesday, July 19, from 6-8pm, with a brief service immediately following at DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral Home, http://www.defiorejorgensen.com/,
10763 Dundee Rd., Huntley, IL 847-515-8772.

The story of my father is one of a life well lived. 90 yrs. We learned a lot from ‘the interview’ bday party. Whenever asked “what's your date of birth”… answer: “2/12/27 BC”. Your gentle, loving, kind and generous heart will never be forgotten. You made everyone smile anywhere you went; the store, the bank, a restaurant, even the dialysis clinic. We are so grateful for the last days we had with you, talking and remembering all the good times. I know you heard us even though you could not answer. No matter what role he played he did it well, G-Grandpa, Gramps, Dad. Now, go out there & play a “celebration of life” round of golf with Mom & Michael. Love ❤ you dearly... R.I.P.

He was my big brother who I always looked up to. He was like a second father to me after our Dad died. Mom told me Hank was the one who named me when I was born. Though he is gone he will always be in my heart. I love you forever Hank.
