Obituary

Dan E. O’Brien, 73 of Sun City, Huntley, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday evening, July 18, 2017.

Dan was born July 16, 1944 in Oak Park, Illinois, the son of Daniel C. and Helen (Bowden) O’Brien. He was raised and educated in Elmhurst, attending York High School. He was united in marriage to Barbara L. Trapp on October 9, 1965. He enlisted and served for a time in the United States Army Reserve. The couple made their home in Hanover Park where they raised their family and later West Dundee, moving to Huntley in 2003. Dan worked as a division manager for McMaster Carr for many years, retiring in 2006. He was a wonderful husband and father, avid golfer, enjoyed traveling and loved attending his grandchildren’s activities.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Huntley, his daughter, Jamie (Jim) Wolf of Plano, Illinois, his son, Dan (Christine) O’Brien of Des Plaines, his grandchildren, Lani & Megan and his brother, Dennis (Marilyn) O’Brien.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 23rd and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Monday, July 24th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
