Obituary

Lina J. Calacsan, 83 of Lake In The Hills, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Rosewood Care Center in Elgin.

She was born May 20, 1934 in Bicol, Philippines the daughter of Gorgonio and Felicidad (Marasigan) Jacob, the youngest of six children. She taught home economics in the Philippines for many years. She was united in marriage to Reynaldo B. Calacsan on August 18, 1961. The couple made their home in Mindoro where they started raising their family. In 1987, they came to the United States and settled in Chicago. Lina worked in the kitchen at Our Lady of Resurrection Hospital until retiring in 1999. She especially enjoyed her family, was a nurturing grandmother and loved to cook.

She is survived by her husband, Reynaldo of Lake In The Hills, her children, Gemma (Antonio) Ganzon of South Elgin, Giomer (Aileen) Calacsan of Houston, Texas and Meg (Chris) Calara of Lake In The Hills and her grandchildren, Geanne, Gedeon, Briana, Berniz, Jayson and Jarel.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20th at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. and the family will greet friends an hour prior at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21st at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.
