Carmen L. Rodrigues Ngan, 72, of Lake In The Hills, IL, passed away on Friday morning, December 1, 2017.
She was born July 2, 1945 in Tocantins, Brazil, the daughter of Jose Rodrigues Vicente and Erodina de Moura Rocha Rodrigues. She was an English teacher in Brazil before immigrating to the United States in 1974. Carmen was united in marriage to Yimin Ngan in January 1975 in Los Angeles, CA. They made their home in Vienna, VA, where she worked as a grants coordinator, publications coordinator, and business control manager at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, CAP Gemini America, and Freddie Mac. Carmen and Yimin moved to Lake in the Hills after retirement, where she volunteered her services as a translator and learned Bunco and Mah Jongg with new friends. Carmen enjoyed reading, gardening, baking, sewing, yoga, and feeling the breeze on her face at the beach. She will be dearly missed for her infectious smile, playful jokes, loving words of advice, and spontaneous singing and dancing.
She is remembered with love by Yimin, Melissa, Eric, Sueli, Rita, Jose Carlos, Eduardo and her many family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her
parents and by her brothers, Fernando and Paulo.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 9th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley, IL. Memorials may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (http://support.pancan.org/goto/carmenngan).
