Paul A. Kohl, 84, of Huntley, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 13, 2017 following a lengthy illness.
He was born October 23, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, the son George and Caroline (Krug) Kohl. He grew up on Chicago’s northside and graduated from Amundsen High School, then attended Wright Junior College. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea. He was united in marriage to Della M. Ryan on February 14, 1958. The couple made their home in Lincoln Square and later Mt. Prospect, where they raised their family. In the early 2000’s they moved to Del Webb, Sun City in Huntley. Paul was a member of the Huntley American Legion Post 673, he enjoyed traveling, watching football and was a huge Cub fan.
He is survived by his son’s, Patrick A. (Mary) Kohl of Cary, Timothy P. (Robin) Kohl of West Dundee, his grandchildren, Jessica (Peter) Zieba, Jennifer, Jason (Carolyn), Jaclyn, Justin, Jamie, Stephanie (Eric) McCord, Christopher (Cassie), Alexander (Marisa) and Lucas Kohl, his great-grandchildren, Morgan and Blake Zieba, Virginia & Kathryn Kohl, Duncan Kohl and Brantley Kohl. He was preceded in death by his wife, Della.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 12:00 noon until the Service of Remembrance at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley. Burial will be later at St. Mary Cemetery, Huntley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
