Beverly Ann Lawson

Obituary

Beverly Ann Lawson, “Bev” passed away peacefully at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek, WI on May 27, 2017. Bev did everything she could to fight cancer for the sake of her loving family.

Bev was born on June 30, 1938 to Richard “Dick” Carpenter and Nina Bernice Carpenter (née Gross) of Raleigh, IL. She was the youngest of two children. Bev attended Harrisburg Township High School where she was a prominent cheerleader and elected to homecoming court where she served as homeroom captain and one of the managers of the magazine drive to sponsor the homecoming festivities. She was a member of the Happy Hustlers 4-H Club where she gave demonstrations on how to make drop cookies and roll cookies. After graduating high school in 1956, she worked on putting together a portfolio with plans to model in Chicago until she met the love of her life Thomas J. Lawson from Clinton, Tennessee. She married Tom in Clinton on August 31, 1957 and built a prominent colonial home in Channahon, IL next to her parents. Bev was always interested in beauty and fashion. She worked at a popular clothing store “Mark Shale” (subsidiary of Al Baskin) in Joliet from 1974 until they closed. Bev and Tom were a fixture in the Joliet social scene for 45 years. Tom was the owner of L&M Manufacturing and Pit Boss Trailers in Monmouth, IL, and they were honorary life members of the Chicago Police Sergeants Association. Bev graced Marshall Fields as a Men’s tailored clothing associate, a job that allowed her to meet many wonderful individuals for five years until Tom got sick with cancer. After her husband’s death, Bev moved to Huntley, IL where she enjoyed tap dancing, performing in dance recitals, various other clubs/activities and a glass of Chardonnay at happy hour with her friends.

Bev is survived by her only daughter, Lori (Ronald) Carrington of Cambridge, WI; two grandchildren; Ashley (Lucas) Renz of Jefferson, WI, and Connor Carrington of Cambridge, WI; and two very special great-granddaughters; Leighton Renz (7) and Reagan Renz (2), along with her beloved long-haired wiener dog “Josam.” She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors she loved in her community of Del-Webb Sun City in Huntley, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister, and her special dachshund “Rudy Baby.”
