Robert K. Harris, 73 of Sun City, Huntley, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017 in Elgin following a lengthy illness.
He was born August 22, 1943 in Caruthersville, Missouri, the son of Robert Luther and Mildred (Myers) Harris. He moved with his family at an early age to Chicago, where he was raised and educated. He enlisted in the United States Army and following his discharge was united in marriage to Sandra J. Naujoks on May 3, 1969. The couple made their home in Carpentersville and then Elgin for many years. Robert worked as a bread delivery man for many years and later worked as a bus driver for School District U46. He retired in 2005 and the couple moved to Huntley. He was a longtime member of the Elgin American Legion and enjoyed golf, bowling, scrapbooking and playing poker.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra of Huntley, his daughter, Barbara (Tim) Meissner of Crystal Lake, his granddaughters, Ali (Zahari) Atanassov and Samantha Meissner. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joan.
